Oakfields played host to the FA Cup Preliminary tie between Southern League Melksham Town and Toolstation Western League Shepton Mallet, with the hosts still in search of their first win of the season.
The first half may have been goalless, but it wasn’t short of action; in the space of 30 seconds Melksham had an effort cleared off the line following a corner, before Mallet went up the other end and rattled the post.
Shepton Mallet stunned the Melksham faithful by going in front through Fillingham just after the restart. Shepton Mallet managed to see the game out, despite one way traffic from Melksham and a few near-misses, and made it 6 competitive clean sheets in a row as it finished 1-0 to the visitors, causing an early upset in the 2021/22 competition.
